It All Started When

In Greg's own words: "For the past 4 years, I've been brewing in my garage and basement as a hobby. I love it, and it's grown to be a big passion of mine. I have a biology degree and had worked in lab-type settings for years before I transitioned in a more sales-oriented role, and I think my education and job history will serve me well here. I started out just sharing it with friends and family and decided I loved making my own beer and wanted to make a living doing it. I told myself and my wife that, if we didn't do it, I would always wonder “what if.”

. . . so we went for it."

We Had a Dream

After deciding to go for, we had to figure out how we could bring this to fruition. And so began the ideas, the strategies, the setbacks, exploring new territory, building a brand, touring building after building, meeting with property owners and development committees, the "how are we actually going to make this work" talks, navigating a long-distance marriage, the leap of faith to leave the day job, the fine-tuning of the recipes, the continual experimentation, having our buddies be our official taste testers, entering our favorites into local festivals, deciding to push forward, and the juggling act to keep it all together knowing it would be a big undertaking but an even bigger adventure.

We Worked Our Butts Off

This is where the magic happens. It wasn't enough to only have the passion for it and the drive to do it. The magic happens in the actual doing. Greg has been working day in and day out in the brewery for months, joined as often as possible by his wife, who spends every spare moment driving back to Albion to help, and joined frequently by his family and Mandy's family. They've gutted the building, touched every square inch of the property, and spent months of hard work rebuilding.

And the Rest Is History

Okay, "history" isn't the right word because this is just the beginning, and we know there will, of course, be challenges, highlights, growing pains, learning curves, highs, lows, ups, and downs in store as we begin the actual journey of running this place, but we couldn't feel luckier to be able to share what we love with the community we love and, most importantly, to be doing it together.

Mandy's brother, Brock Michael, created this video for the happy spouses/dreamers/business partners, to chronicle their "journey."

Hwy 14 Brewing is seeking attentive, positive, and personable bartenders/servers who will be responsible for working in close cooperation with brewery managers/owners, other bartenders/servers, and customers.
